I'm capable of hearing both, probably because I'm a sound designer. It sounded more like Yanny when I first heard it; now I can make it shift at will.
It is technically Laurel though; it's the speak-and-spell function from the Laurel page on a dictionary website. I'm not sure if Yanny is even a word.

the watchtower's official position is that babylon the great is the worldwide false religion and nothing else but we never really think of babylon the great as a real country with physical borders and citizens?

even warning against looking at swim wear adverts!
so i was wondering, is porn really such an issue in the wt?.
Judicial committees have a problem with it, they're always asking young girls for pornographic details of their sex lives
i have always wondered why there are more females than males in all of the congregations that i have visited?
some of these females are in their 70's so maybe their husbands have died and women just live longer.
or could the reason be that years ago men were the breadwinners and women stayed home to raise the children thus they were home during the week when the jdubs came a knocking?
Perhaps women are generally less rational?
in the most recent assembly there were several heavy hints about not drinking alcohol at all.
saying that it doesn't give a good witness or would stumble others.. is this a new "unwritten directive?.
I think it indicates that the religion has a lot of alcoholics in its midst, which is hardly surprising, such a closeted lifestyle is enough to make anyone turn to drink, and it's one of the few vices they have that isn't explicitly prohibited, yet
They successfully banned smoking in the 1970s, so I wouldn't put it past them to try banning alcohol outright at some point in the not-to-distant future

If no one at all was drinking then why would the chef be impressed with them in particular, wouldn't he be impressed with everyone? And for that matter why would he be impressed with them to begin with? Not drinking alcohol is not some kind of impressive act, in fact statistically speaking, the majority of people don't drink
But it's all beside the point because when you go to a restaurant you never see the chef, they're in the kitchen and have no contact with diners, what a fucking mental story
i missed my first memorial last year in 60 years.
it always amazed me on this special night that the jw's forget how to park their cars in the parking lot.
i would pull in with my wife and there are 5 brothers giving directions on where and how to park my car.
60 years? How do people manage to stay in the religion for so long? I was born-in and was gone before my teens were over, I can't imagine still being in even now, let alone into my 60s, that'd be another 30 years of it, I couldn't possibly cope
i guess if the jdubs have no clue how long a generation is they also wouldn't know how long a time period the word "soon" refers too.. 60 years ago my mother would hammer into my brain how soon the great tribulation was.
soon jehovah would destroy the wicked.
then a few years later there was no need to go to college because the end was so soon.

what do you think would happen to jehovah's witnesses as a religion and as a people?.
The question is not about family and friends, it's about the JWs. Furthermore, it's yet another unhealthy, escape from reality, unnecessary, never will happen what if that brings nothing positive to anyone.
Spend your time fostering a good relationship with your JW love ones instead of wasting time fantasizing.
